About Clever Backpacker

Ah, so you want to know a little about me and this here cleverness, do you?

Fair enough.

The name’s Rick, and I’m a young pup hailing from Perth in Australia. That’s right, the most remote city on the planet (screw you, Honolulu!).

Let’s see, what else do I want to tell you? Oh, a bit about this blog would be good, right?

Well, I started up this blog to share my travel experiences. I’ve been traveling fairly consistently since 2009, when I dropped out of college and set off to Southeast Asia to figure out this whole nomadic lifestyle. In the years since I’ve toured much of Europe and South America, and have even spent some time in Central Africa and the Middle East.

So after many a bump and a scrape and an adventure, I’ve figured a few things out, and I’m not as dumb as I used to be at this backpacking lark. In fact, some mad heads would even say I’m quite clever to not only have survived in this lifestyle for so long, but to have actually thrived in it! Hence, this blog, where I’ve taken the flippant advice of a few friends (and by “friends”, I do of course mean several random people I’ve shared hostel rooms with over the years) and dump all my knowledge on unsuspecting travelers of the vicarious and first-hand variety.

The adventure continues!
